Lauren's Link

Welcome to Lauren's Link

Lauren's Link was formed due to the tragic death of 16 year old Lauren Rodgers, of heroin misuse. At the time of her addiction and after her death there was very little, if any, support for parents / carers and families of drug misusers.

Lauren's Link began as a self help group in November 2000, meeting weekly in accommodation provided free of charge by an established voluntary organisation.

Because of the demand for its services and interest in its unique kind of support by the media and other voluntary and statutory agencies, Lauren's Link decided to adopt a more formal structure in order to respond to this. Lauren's Link, with support and advice from Derby Drug Alcohol Action Team was able to submit a business plan in order to obtain funding.

Lauren's Link became a full time service at their current premises in Wilson Street with funding from the DAAT and CAD (Communities Against Drugs), on April 9th 2002. Lauren's Link has gone from strength to strength in its first year and has been able to network resulting in excellent partnerships with agencies and being able to share good working practice.

The families supported and the number of referrals is on the increase. We know that Lauren's Link and Angels makes a difference to families affected by drug misuse.
